Riproduzione

The goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis ) is a passerine bird belonging to the Fringillidae family
Etymology

The scientific name of the species, carduelis, is a tautonym, as a repetition of that of the genus: it became such when the species was segregated from the genus Fringilla (where Linnaeus had classified it in its Systema Naturae) to be moved into a genus to self standing.
Carduelis was the name by which these birds were known in ancient Rome, deriving (as indeed its Italian counterpart, of direct Latin derivation) from the thistle plant, whose seeds (especially those of the red thistle) the goldfinches are notoriously greedy.
Appearance

They are small-headed birds with a conical and pointed beak, large eyes, pointed wings and a slightly forked tip tail.
The livery is unmistakable. The goldfinches, in fact, present in both sexes the characteristic dark red facial mask, with a small blackish band running from the sides of the beak to the eye: the red mask is edged by a wide white band covering throat, ears and forehead, in turn edged with black. The back, sides and chest are warm brown in European populations and ash gray in many of the Asian ones: at the center of the chest is a white circular spot, which joins below the white of the belly and the undertail. White is also a crescent-shaped area between the nuchal black and the dorsal brown, as well as the codione whites, a circular spot on the tip of each of the remiges and the central part of the tip of the tail: the latter, as well as the wings , is black, with a large yellow wing band on the coverts.
Sexual dimorphism is present, although not very evident. The red mask in fact completely exceeds the eye in the male, especially on the eyebrow, while in the female hardly the extension of the red face exceeds half of the eye: the colors of the male are generally more accentuated than those of the female, in special way on the nape and wings. Finally, males look generally more slender than females, which tend to be heavier at the same age.
In both sexes the beak is ivory colored with a blackish tip, the eyes are dark brown with a periocular circle bare and flesh-colored, and the legs are flesh-colored with dark and slightly curved nails.
In Italy the species is widespread and well represented throughout the national territory (including the islands), resulting particularly widespread in Campania and Sardinia.
Generally resident, especially the goldfinch populations spread in the coldest areas (especially the eastern ones of the area occupied by the species) tend to carry out seasonal migrations, going down in altitude or going south during cold periods.
The goldfinch is very adaptable and can be observed in a wide variety of habitats and at various latitudes, united by the presence of woods or thickets that are not too thick, open grassy or bushy areas and permanent sources of fresh water: it is therefore found in a wide range of environments ranging from the Mediterranean to the taiga, to the cutting fields, to the pine forests, to the plantations and to the juniper trees, as well as in the anthropized areas, where it can be seen in the suburban planted areas, in the rural areas and in the abandoned fields with abundant weed growth.

The Bonelli’s eagle (Aquila fasciata) is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. Its common name is a tribute to the Italian ornithologist Franco Andrea Bonelli (1784-1830).
Description

In flight it is recognizable by other birds of prey due to the white spot it has on its back, for the remainder it has a color, variable with age, mainly of reddish brown and with a clear belly streaked with darker spots.
The species has a moderate sexual dimorphism: the female has an average size of 70 cm, a wingspan of almost 180 cm, for a weight of almost 2000 grams. The male has smaller dimensions, does not exceed 1500 grams in weight and the size of 65 cm.
Biology
Supply

It feeds mainly on small mammals, but also on birds that it can take with great skill. During the reproductive period its diet is made up of almost 50% of wild rabbits.
Playback
Rather early, courtship begins in December. The deposition usually takes place within the second decade of February, while the flocks between late May and early June.
