La Federazione Italiana Canottaggio (FIC) è la federazione sportiva italiana, riconosciuta dal CONI, che governa lo sport olimpico del canottaggio. Ha sede a Roma, mentre il Centro Tecnico Sportivo Federale è a Terni, sul Lago di Piediluco.

Storia

Nel 1861 e nel 1863 nascono rispettivamente la “Canottieri Limite sull’Arno” e la “Canottieri Cerea”, le prime società di canottaggio italiane. Nel 1876 sorge l'”Alfredo Cappellini” di Livorno. Il 31 marzo 1888 viene fondato a Torino, presso la cofondatrice Reale Società Canottieri Cerea il Rowing Club Italiano, con uno statuto, un’assemblea elettiva e un piano di regate. Alla fondazione partecipano cinque società: Cerea, Armida, Caprera, Esperia ed Eridano. Il primo Campionato d’Italia si svolge a Stresa, sulle acque del Lago Maggiore, il 15 settembre 1889.

Nel gennaio 1924 l’organismo muta il nome in Reale Federazione Italiana di Canottaggio (RFIC) per poi assumere nel dopoguerra quello definitivo di Federazione italiana di canottaggio (FIC).

Anche la sede ha subito vari spostamenti negli anni: dal 1888 al 1933 è a Torino, poi, sotto il fascismo, si sposta a Roma. Nel 1946 torna nel capoluogo piemontese, dove rimane fino al 1957, anno del definitivo spostamento a Roma.

Attività

La FIC dirige l’attività della Nazionale e delle nazionali giovanili; inoltre ha lo scopo di propagandare lo sport remiero in tutte le sue espressioni tramite l’organizzazione e la supervisione di gare nazionali, internazionali e dei campionati italiani. A livello regionale opera attraverso i Comitati Regionali.

Promuove anche attività e gare riservate ai settori giovanili e ai disabili.

The Italian Rowing Federation (FIC) is the Italian sports federation, recognized by the CONI, which governs the Olympic sport of rowing. It is based in Rome, while the Federal Sports Technical Center is in Terni, on the Piediluco Lake.

History
In 1861 and 1863, respectively, the “Canottieri Limite sull’Arno” and the “Canottieri Cerea”, the first Italian rowing companies, were born. In 1876 the “Alfredo Cappellini” of Livorno rises. On March 31, 1888, the Rowing Club Italiano, with a statute, an elective assembly and a regatta plan, was founded in Turin, at the co-founder Reale Società Canottieri Cerea. Five companies participate in the foundation: Cerea, Armida, Caprera, Esperia and Eridano. The first Italian Championship takes place in Stresa, on the waters of Lake Maggiore, on September 15th 1889.

In January 1924 the organism changed its name into the Royal Italian Rowing Federation (RFIC) and then took over the definitive Italian rowing Federation (FIC) after the Second World War.

Even the headquarters has undergone various movements over the years: from 1888 to 1933 it is in Turin, then, under fascism, it moves to Rome. In 1946 he returned to the Piedmontese capital, where he remained until 1957, the year of the definitive move to Rome.

Activities
The FIC directs the activities of the National and of the national youth teams; moreover, it aims to promote the rowing sport in all its expressions through the organization and supervision of national and international competitions and the Italian championships. At the regional level it operates through the Regional Committees.

It also promotes activities and competitions reserved for youth and disabled sectors.
